GATE 2027 Eligibility
GATE has no age limit, and the eligibility is not limited to engineering students. The 2027 rules also allow students from several other recognised degree programmes to appear.
A candidate currently studying in the third year or higher of an eligible undergraduate programme can apply. Students who have already completed a government-approved qualifying degree can also appear.

New GATE 2027 Paper – Robotics & Automation
GATE 2027 has introduced Robotics & Automation (RA) as a new test paper. Candidates interested in this area can select RA while completing the application, subject to the permitted paper combinations.

GATE 2027 Two Paper Option
Candidates can appear for a maximum of two test papers. However, the second paper cannot be selected randomly. It must be one of the combinations permitted by GATE 2027.
For example, candidates choosing CS as the primary paper can select a permitted secondary paper such as DA, EC, GE, MA, ME, PH, RA or ST.
Both papers must be added to the same application. Candidates should not submit separate applications for the two papers.

GATE 2027 Marking Scheme
GATE uses different question formats, so the marking rules depend on the type of question.
- Questions carry either 1 mark or 2 marks.
- Negative marking applies to incorrect answers in MCQ questions.
